Bicycles have always been a main mode of transportation in cities across China. They’re cheap, can get around traffic and a fun way to travel.

In major cities across China, you will see as many bicycles on the road as you will cars.

Over the last few years, shared bikes have taken over China and have produced a cheap, effective way to travel around without the worries of leaving your bike around.

To use these bikes, you simply download an app of your choice. There are many to choose from such as Mobike and Ofo as well as many other brands. There are even electric bikes for those days where you just don’t feel like peddling.

Once you’ve downloaded the app, look at the GPS tracker and it will show you where the nearest bikes are. You won’t have to go too far. They’re usually everywhere

On the back of each bike, you’ll find a QR code that your app will scan and it will unlock the bike and you’re ready to go.

The app is set up with your bank account and most rides cost less than 15 cents per half hour. When you arrive at your destination, find an area away from traffic and drop off the bike anywhere. Lock it up using the app and it will automatically take the money out of your account.

Though very convenient, they have come at a slight cost. Due to extreme competition, the streets are overrun with bikes which can be a little annoying in certain areas.

Luckily, if you don’t live in China, you won’t have to wait long for bikes like this to come to your city as Ofo and Mobike are expanding across the world with bikes in Manchester, Barcelona, London, Singapore and many more on their way!
